Acetic acid systematically named ethanoic acid , is a colorless liquid organic compound. When undiluted, it is sometimes called glacial acetic acid. It is classified as a weak acid since it only partially dissociates in solution, but concentrated acetic acid is corrosive and can attack the skin. Acetic acid is a chemical reagent for the production of chemical compounds.
The largest single use of acetic acid is in the production of vinyl acetate monomer, closely followed by acetic anhydride and ester production.
It cleans a variety of household surfaces such as house hold sinks, tubs, tiles, grease, waste water treatment, food and beverage industries and as a source of nitrogen
